Get the kiddy sprinklers and Fla-Vor-Ice out, because summer is bout to go inferno in here. If you haven’t already, get at the new Major Lazer Summer Mix off the most recent edition of Diplo’s brainchild of a record label Mad Decent. This mix starts of with one of my favorite Major Lazer jams ripe for summer “Keep it Going Louder” featuring Nina Sky and Ricky Blaze and quickly moves to some new remixes of the Top 40’s best on the radio right now like Jay-Z’s “On to The Next One” and that new Ciara joint. This mix has got a little more hip-hop and pop and a little less Jamaican Dancehall and dub which might upset some of you die-hards although I think it’s doing just fine….
Take a listen and download here (right-click and “save as”) or at Mad Decent.
Enjoy.

There’s a lot of attention to capital letters there, I know. ANYways, you may remember hearing this Duck Sauce jam ANYway featured on the site a month or two ago when I originally posted the How To Make It In America mixtape mixed by DJ Green Lantern and in part by the shows co-star and token NY celebrity, Scott “Kid” Mescudi (Kid Cudi, if you didn’t get the “Kid”…). Duck Sauce, one part DJ A-trak and one part Armand Van Helden, held together by the pseudonym “Duck Sauce” (much like their cohorts Major Lazer–Diplo and Switch) have been, in my opinion, one of the most underrated electronic duos and I’m utterly surprised they haven’t made the rounds around the blogosphere more considering their huge talent level.
Today, however, I bring you fellow under-rated DJ duo LAZRtag (who’s made it on this site with their EP “Never Gonna Stop” before, and their remix of the Duck Sauce groove. The original has got a LOT of funky disco fever as intended by A-trak and Van Helden to remix their favorite vintage disco sounds and tunes. LAZRtag, however, brings their unique power-chord electronic sound while perfectly preserving the vintage disco styling and sound; it makes for an interesting blend of modern fist-pump and boogie instinct.

[edit: after some back and fort tweeting w/ Bassnectar, I do concede that as he put it:
"Here We Go, Bass Head r 2 of the physically loudest, densest, heaviest songs ive ever made thats in terms of physical weight (mastering, etc). they are SLAMMED. and 'blast off' is next level dubstep"
And as such some of the tracks are most definitely worthy of that bass/dub "punch" technically. I am just writing my humble opinion on what it feels like, but thought I'd properly present the facts!
Thank You,
MGMT]
It’s here, the ghost-face beat killer himself has made his return. I’m talking of course about that long haired, darkly, beat slayer Bassnectar. I’ll be honest about two things: I don’t really like dubstep that much, and before last summer’s Lollapalooza closing set I didn’t know who Bassnectar was. But he did do the closing set for last years Lolla in an unreal performance in the heart of Chicago with the skyline hugging the stage that made it pretty damn magical, and damn did he rocked the SHIT out of the crowd ( I was front row, of course)! Ok, now that that is out in the open and (hopefully) you’re still reading, let me share his newest EP pursuit with you Timestretch.
The good fellas over at MadDecent , Diplo’s home of sorts, recently did a huge mix for Japanese fashion, music, and culture magazine Transworld Warp. They dubbed it a ‘MegaMix’, and indeed it’s worthy of the name. keep reading and listen…
Just thought this pic was completely bad-ass as I get amped up to see Major Lazer w/ Bassnectar April 9th. Oh yea, and remember that track I put up two days ago by Busy Signal feat. M.I.A, that was a collabo w/ Major Lazer EP coming out this April. Be excited, be VERY excited…
Here’s the Diplo/Major Lazer version, its pretty much the same but with a few DJ sound effect touches:

Damn, how did I not know about this guy earlier? When it comes to Jamaican ‘Ja’ music and ridiculous dubs of American rap and pop bangers no one, that I’ve heard at least, comes close to Busy Signal. Busy Signal is Reanno Gordon, from St. Ann, Jamaica. He was nicknamed Busy Signal by his friends because of the fact that he is constantly busy and his hit tracks for 2007/2008 were “Nah Go A Jail Again”, “Smoke Some High Grade”, “Tic Toc” and the crazy track ripping the charts entitled “Unknown Number”. Recently his new track “Sound of Siren” with M.I.A. leaked and got some serious love the other day at the EME awards- basically, the Jamaican Grammys. Busy Signal is known in Jamaica for being a serious Dancehall aresenist as his tracks straight up start fires in clubs and the like (think Sean Paul, but legitly Carribean and not a sell-out).
After the recent jungle/drum n’ bass/ Diplo trip I’ve been on recently, I figure I’d keep it going one more day. Today I bring you a hot new artist off of Man Recordings and affiliated with the good folks over at maddecent. The Group’s name is SCHLACHTHOFBRONX and have been doing big things recently with some artists I’ve been highlighting like Radioclit, Diplo, Crookers, Sinden, and many more. You can’t help to get up and dance on this track. This track “Ayoba” is off their recent EP similarly titled Ayoba. Apparently, the word “Ayoba” is a uniquely South African slang term meaning “for sure”, “for real”, or “right on”
This could just be noise, but I got a tweet from @diplo (well, not just me) that he’s got a mind to release a new mixtape with both Major Lazer and Souljaboytellem (yes that’s his full artist name). This is blowing my mind right now.
As Diplo would say, he “got the internet going ham and cheese right now”. If you don’t know who Diplo is, I don’t know if there is any saving you. This mixtape is centered around Gucci Mane’s recent re-release into prison following his Nov. 12th 2009 probation violation: I guess you can take the thug out the hood, not the hood out the thug. The album is even called ‘FREE GUCCI’, although I don’t how much help that’s going to be. Diplo’s doing big things with this one. To be honest, since I discovered he was one half of afrobeat-jungle-pop-electro act ‘Major Lazer’, there’s not much he can do wrong in my eyes. I love Diplo’s ability to take blazing hot jungle beats and afro-centric movements and couple it with today’s hottest pop and rap artists, just makes you feel like a gangsta while you dance; everyone knows gangsta’s don’t dance…
It’s got to come from his deep interest in Brazilian “Funk do Rio” and his time spent at University of Central Flordia. In a way he even put M.I.A.’s jungle-feeling Arular on the map when he first played ‘Galang’ at one of his first club appearances. But then again, most of the mixtape Diplo takes it back to a more traditional feeling progressive DJ sound like on his remix of Gucci’s “Break Yourself” feat Lil B. The history is there though, and if you really like that more jungle beat type sound I would recommend checking out Diplo and Santigold’s mixtape together “Top Ranking”, you can download it here from 2008. Either way you like it, jungle beat,gun-toting, dirty south, gangsta rap, or dreamy,trip-inducing, hip-hop you won’t be disappointed. Get the mixtape at maddecent.
