It’s been a while coming: I’m back. After properly adjusting to the fact that summer and consequently sunlight are here to stay in Michigan for a little bit, I finally don’t feel quite so bad about sitting at my computer grinding hours away seducing your ears with what has been seducing my ears lately.

Things, however, are going to be a little different this go-around. I solemnly pledge to no longer even attempt to compete with larger music/media sites and as such don’t expect 5 posts a day on the 12th ‘new’ remix of some Florence and The Machines song or whatever DJ’s re-rub of Kid Cudi: if you like up-to-the-minute music news in an attempt to feel on ‘top’ of the burgeoning electronic/indie/whatever ‘genre’ music scene don’t come here, I have not the time nor the desire and resources to bring that to you.

So, what exactly am I going to do? Post whatever the hell I feel like, and in particular what I’m actually enthralled with listening to at the moment whether it be new or old, electro or blues, and ‘hot’ or not. I really want to make this site a place for both my friends and people I don’t know who love music just as much to share thoughts, new artists, and create meaningful discussion. The blogosphere, and in particular the music blogosphere has been overrun by thoughtless reiteration, racing to be the ‘first’ to ‘break’ something regardless of whether or not said ‘journalist’ has even really given a piece a proper listen, and just general degenerate drivel.

With that said, if you want all the newest, hottest, hipster-worthy new music and media I’d suggest checking out Pitchfork.  Now, enough ranting and onto what we’re all here for, good music.

BURNS, BURNS, BURNS.  So many fond memories (or lackthereof) of this man as he played a full two-hour set getting me ready for Deadmau5′ apperance at The Fillmore in Detroit last  January.  This dude is a madman, and is far and away more talented than he a.)lets on and b.) gets credit for.  Now, no offense to BURNS but Deadmau5 did rock the house a little harder than he did, but then again he was opening for him; can’t steal someone’s thunder when it’s not your tour…

But now it’s BURNS time to shine, and boy is he lighting up my ears like a 70’s Disco light show.  BURNS has recently released a new EP “So Many Nights” reminiscent of his tour last year of Deadmau5 (yea, I saw him front row…) and is anything but disappointing. keep reading and listen…

The good fellas over at MadDecent , Diplo’s home of sorts, recently did a huge mix for Japanese fashion, music, and culture magazine Transworld Warp.  They dubbed it a ‘MegaMix’, and indeed it’s worthy of the name. keep reading and listen…

I’m pretty excited about this.  Legendary producer David–Ski a.k.a. Ski Beatz a.k.a. MC Will Ski–Willis is known for molding some of the finest beats and albums hip-hop has been blessed with, including many of Jay-Z’s, Lil Kim’s, and Fat Joe’s.  His newest venture? A who’s who of hip-hop called 24 Hour Karate School.  Lined up for tracks are the likes of Mos Def, The Cool Kids, Jay Electronica, Curren$y among others as this concept of collaborative artistry is sure to be received warmly by the hip-hop community. Check out the trailer for a little Bruce Lee nostalgia.  Jim Jones is pretty silly on it (not in a good way, been chiefin’ too much and not spittin’ enough) but some dude named Rugz D. Bewler who I’ve never heard of goes hard, as well as Wiz Kalifa.   24 Hour Karate School is due a release March 30th.

Special thanks to Hypebeast for hookin’ this one up

As promised, here are the pics from the hood internet show this past Saturday @ The Majestic Cafe in Detroit. That hangover is finally subsiding…

Not much to report today.  Nursing a  SERIOUS hangover after the Hood Internet had the Majestic Cafe going absolutely bonkers last night. Man I tried to get kids to come to this show, but no one wanted to believe me when I told them it’s was going to be one of the best acts in Detroit all year, their loss… The Hood Internet had kids jumpin’ off the ceiling, and by the time I made it to the car I was surprised I could stand.  Anyone who ever tries to justify missing a dj/electro show by saying “but it’s just two guys and a laptop” has no clue what good music is all about, especially good electro.  The Hood Internet put on as good as show any in this small cafe with like 100 people there. I’m actually kind of glad it was at such a small venue considering how I got to meet both of them and my buddy got a shirt signed etc.  They rocked the pants off the Majestic and actually got shut down by the bar before their set was over.  They had some LEGIT opening acts too, like this Dj Grand Dad Crunk” (gotta like him on name alone…) I HIGHLY encourage you to check this up and coming Detroit Dj out, hes doing big things.  Look for pics and possibly a few tracks from the show coming soon.

Eatin’ grease and drinkin’ Gatorade….
